Locked out but want to keep your door and lock intact? As a non-destructive entry locksmith, I open most doors without drilling, breaking or forcing anything.
A non-destructive entry locksmith opens a locked door without damaging it. Instead of drilling the cylinder or forcing the frame, I work with the lock’s own mechanism. I use specialist tools and careful technique to do this.
As a result, your door opens, and your lock still works. You also avoid paying for a replacement you didn’t need.
There are several good reasons to ask for gentle entry first:

Whether gentle entry is possible depends on the lock, its condition and how the door was closed. In my experience, it often works on:
I’d rather tell you now than surprise you on the doorstep. Gentle entry isn’t always the right option. For example:
If that happens, I’ll explain what I find and what your options are. I’ll agree on the price with you before I start any drilling or replacement. If you need a new lock, I can fit one on the spot. See my lock replacement and UPVC door lock replacement services.

What does non-destructive entry mean?
It means I open a locked door without drilling, breaking or forcing the lock. I use specialist tools and techniques, so your door and lock stay undamaged.
Can a locksmith really open a door without damaging it?
In many cases, yes, particularly when the lock works properly. I can’t guarantee it for every lock, though. If yours is broken, jammed or high-security, I’ll tell you honestly and explain the alternatives.
Does non-destructive entry work on UPVC doors?
Often it does, especially if you haven’t fully engaged the multipoint lock. Anti-snap and high-security cylinders are harder, so the result depends on your lock.
Will you damage my lock if you can’t get in gently?
No. I won’t move to drilling or replacement until I explain why and agree on the cost with you first.
Is it cheaper than drilling the lock?
Usually, yes. If the lock stays intact, you avoid the cost of a new cylinder and any door repair. I’ll confirm the price before I start.
Do I need to prove the property is mine?
Yes. To protect you, I’ll ask for reasonable proof that you live at the property or have permission to access it, such as ID or a utility bill.
How long does it take?
Once I reach your door, I can open many locks in a few minutes. The time depends on your lock and door type.
Can you help outside Staines?
